Co-ops spread energy efficiency message at National Western Stock Show

Stock show draft horse hitchFor the 12th year in a row, Tri-State and the region's Touchstone Energy Cooperatives rode high in the saddle at the 2010 National Western Stock Show and Rodeo, held Jan. 9 -24 in Denver, leveraging the event as an effective means of promoting the values and ideals of the region’s electric co-ops.

The centerpiece of the co-ops’ sponsorship is the heart-pounding Touchstone Energy draft horse hitch, a powerful and impressive team of six matching Clydesdales that performed at a variety of performances throughout the 16-day annual event.

In addition to their presence in the rodeo ring, several of the participating co-ops pooled their resources and set up a booth inside the Denver Coliseum (one of the primary venues on the Stock Show grounds) where they promoted the  Touchstone Energy “Together We Save” campaign over a three-day period.  Visitors to the booth received a complimentary reusable grocery bag stocked with the campaign’s “101 Easy Ways to Save Energy and Money” booklet.

Electric (Hugo, Colo.).

The National Western Stock Show marked its 104th anniversary in 2010, continuing its long-standing mission to preserve the western lifestyle and support the efforts of working farmers and ranchers.  Its primary means of doing so is through education and training initiatives, while also providing scholarship opportunities to future agribusiness leaders and practitioners.
